Step Into My Week

It’s officially the start of Thanksgiving week! I hope that for most of you that this means that you have Thursday and maybe even Friday off! I finish with a half day on Wednesday and will be heading out of town then to enjoy time with family.

Luckily for me, last week started with a day off as well. Since Veteran’s Day was Sunday, our office was closed on Monday for the occasion. When I opened my blinds after sleeping in a bit I couldn’t have been more thrilled to not have to go to work in a cold downpour. I did force myself to go the Y to run for a bit before coming back to our house to shower and enjoy the rest of the day. In the afternoon I went to a coffee shop to begin mapping out content for the end of this month and next before heading to get some groceries at Trader Joes and pop in Target to admire their Sugar Paper holiday collaboration. I came home excited to try out a soup recipe I had seen. Unfortunately, mid-way through cooking it, some of the cauliflower and potatoes boiled out of the pot and ended up burning my thumb. A week later it is starting to hurt less but looks like it has made its mark for a while at least.

Tuesday morning it was back to work for another busy week. I know this week will be similar as I try to make sure everything is squared away before a couple of days out of the office. Our copy drafts for our March/April issue (yep, you read that right) were due which is nice to have out of the way prior to vacation. The rest of the day was spent doing other tasks in the office as well as packing up for a photoshoot on Wendesday. After work on Tuesday I went for drinks and dinner at a bar/restaurant called Carrigans in downtown Birmingham and then came home and went to bed.

Wednesday morning I was able to work from home until about 8:20 which was a such a nice treat since the location of the photoshoot I was assisting with for the day happened to be about 5 minutes from my house. The photoshoot turned out beautiful despite the fact that we were on a covered outdoor porch in 40 degree temperatures and rain. We were all very excited when we had to wait for the next dish to be finished before heading back outside to photograph it since it meant that we got to warm up a bit. After the shoot I returned a few props and went to workout despite that being the last thing I wanted to do. I showered and warmed up with soup before working on some blog work and heading to bed.

Thursday at work was relatively normal as well. However, Thursday night we had a bunch of our friends over for a friendsgiving meal. I was a bit worried we weren’t going to have enough foor but we ended up with plenty and my roommate and I will be eating turkey leftovers until Thanksgiving it seems. We pushed two long tables together in our empty-ish downstairs living room and served the food in our actual dining room. We had the best time eating and enjoying one another’s company and I’m thinking this will have to be an annual event!

Friday was a half day at work and afterwards I had plans to meet Nell for lunch. We went to Real and Rosemary in Homewood and then were able to get a ton of blog photos done. She went hoem for her Thanksgiving break afterwards and I headed for what ended up being a 4 mile walk with my roommate and two friends. After I showered, ate leftover turkey, and my roommate and I watched a cheesy hallmark movie before going to bed relatively early.

Saturday morning I got up and went for a run at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. It was fun to explore more of the area on the trails they had and fortunately it wasn’t very crowded. I came home, showered, and had lunch before heading to H&M with my roommate to browse. Their sweaters this season are amazing, and I can’t wait to share more about my favorites as the sales begin to kick off this week. Once we got home I organized my closet and then worked on gathering some products for upcoming gift guides. I ate dinner and then Rebecca and I went to the miss Olympian pageant put on by Mountain Brook High School. Since Rebecca is a youth minister some of her girls were competing so she wanted someone to join her to support them. It was quite the unique experience since my high school didn’t do anything of this nature. After the pageant we came home and went to sleep.

On Sunday I slept in a bit before spending most of my morning at a coffee shop to prepare posts for this week. Since I know there will be tons of sales I was hoping to get a bit of a head start! After working for a while I went to Trader Joe’s to pick up some of the treats my family had requested before eating a quick lunch and heading for a run on Jemison Trail. I talked to my parents as I walked back to my car and was even able to catch up with my former roommate, Ellison, after I got home and showered which was such a treat! Later on, I continued to work on blog posts and ate dinner before finishing up my laundry and preparing for the week ahead.

I hope that you all had a wonderful week as well!
