What Type Of Coat Should I Choose?

Choosing a coat can be tricky, and with there being so many women's coats on the high street and online, it can often be hard to know which style will suit your body type best.

If you are an:

A trench coat is particularly good with an hourglass figure as often these are belted, complementing the already small waist. The lapels create a V neck and consequently show off the bust and the coat also goes out over the hips meaning that they do look more petite. A longer coat is also more flattering than a short one as it has the ability to highlight and accentuate curves better, showing off your shape.

For an apple figure, a V neck jacket such as the trench coat is a good choice as this shows off the bust but then flares out, skimming over larger areas. The belt on this jacket creates the impression of a waist and choosing a brightly coloured jacket will often be a plus, while showing your personality off at the same time.

Having a pear figure means that your hips are your widest part of the body and this means that a jacket such as a windcheater may not be the jacket for you. This is because it stops at your hips and so could accentuate them. Therefore, it could be better to choose a longer jacket that simply glosses over your hips instead. A jacket with detail around the neck, such as a collar or buttons, would also be an advantage as this would draw attention to this area, making your bust appear larger.

If you’re petite, your main aim in life is often to make yourself appear taller. When choosing a jacket, you can do this by choosing something tailored which will elongate your figure. Having a shorter jacket may also be a good idea as it will stop you looking swamped by the jacket. However, finding a longer jacket in a petite size would also work to your advantage as this would be cut to a flattering length for someone of your proportions and so would be less likely to swamp you. So, if you want a longer jacket then looking at one specifically for a petite body shape may be a good idea.

A tailored, structured jacket such as a trench coat can really work for any shape but in the end, choosing a coat is down to your own personal preference and the look that you are attempting to create.

Thomas Kelly

The motivation to workout is not a feeling that everyone experiences. I know from my experience that if I have a cute outfit to wear I will be more excited about my workout. Recently I received two items from the new workout brand Thomas Kelly and they have been excellent motivation!

How stinkin' cute is the Malaga Mix and Padaro Pants! Pink and Navy are already my favorite colors together, add in gingham, a ruffle, and a T-back and you've got the cutest running top on Earth!

I love wearing this top with my pink nike shorts with the gingham line down the side since the weather is still a little toasty! I can't wait until it gets warmer though so that I can pair it with the pants because they are the softest workout pants I've ever worn!

Love their logo! The philosophy behind the designs is that you can go from exercise to errands in these clothes and I think they achieve this idea!

Another item they have that I am lusting over is the Bolero Boyfriend Cardigan. Super comfy and cute while long enough to cover up your bottom after your workout, PERFCT!

Hope y'all love Thomas Kelly as much as I do!

Homecoming Dress

Homecoming at my school is not a formal affair unless you are a senior girl. One thing that I absolutely love about my school is that all of the girls in the senior class get to be a part of the Homecoming Court.  My school is pretty small so there are only about 25 girls but I love the tradition of participation by all. Because of that, I am on the Homecoming Court and had to look for a dress to wear out on the field during half time. Oddly enough, I will only wear this for the game and change into something more casual and related to the theme of our Homecoming dance that follows.

I found this dress at and was obsessed from the minute I laid eyes on it. Sadly, it was out of my size in every color. Fortunately, my mom found it in our local Dillards and we couldn't have been more excited. The price was great, it looks great on, and I can wear it for years to come!

It is navy lace with a boatneck and I love it.
The bottom has lace detailing that extends past the slip in a scalloped design.

The back has a metallic gold zipper with a deepish v neck.

The funny thing about this dress is it works forwards or backwards. I don't think it is necessarily made to but it works!

Now I am having to look for shoes and would love suggestions. Heels won't work on the field (I would sink) so I am thinking formal wedges would be the best bet in a metallic color. Link any shoes you think would work below or any suggestions for hair.

Lifeguard Press Fall

I'm sure it comes as no surprise to y'all but I love Lifeguard Press. Some of you may remember my last post talking about their Lilly Pulitzer storage bin and catchall with pad but if not you can check it out here.

Well they have done it again, I recently received two fabulous items from their fall Lilly Pulitzer goodies and I love them! In my opinion, the most well known item they sell is the Lilly Pulitzer agenda. Everyone and their sister seems to have one which shows Lifeguard Press is definitely doing something right.

The products I received from the fall 2012 collection were the Dirty Shirley Caddy and the Dirty Shirley Portable Speaker. As you probably guessed, I love the Dirty Shirley print and it is my second favorite from this fall collection behind the See You Later print.

This is a picture of the caddy which has SO MANY pockets! This could be used for so many different things because of the amount of storage space it contains

I am using mine to hold painting supplies. The front pockets are great for paint brushes as well as paint bottles.

The inside pocket is huge and has plenty of room for finished or unfinished canvases. I think this caddy could be perfect for a shower bag (although I am not sure I would want it wet).

Here is an image of the two side pockets. These pockets are larger than the front pockets and could easily fit tons of paperclips, pencils, notecards, or post-its if you were to use it as a desk caddy.

The other item I was sent was the portable speaker. It is precious and the sound that comes from it is incredible. I was super impressed with the quality and love that it is so small and only requires 2 AAA batteries to operate.

Here is it next to my iPhone. They are nearly the same size, the speaker is just wider.

I am so pleased with all of the lifeguard press products I've purchased and received and can't recommend them enough!

Fall Outfits

It is finally starting to feel like fall! Although this more comfortable spell of weather will only last a short while, it has already got me thinking about fall outfits. My favorite fall outfits involve jeans and a sweater and then whatever accessories work best!

For fall I love wearing oranges, tans, purples, dark reds, and greens. the best part is that you still get to wear colors like you did all summer but in a more muted fashion (no pun intended (: ). All of those colors look great with blacks, browns, and blues so it is easy to look fully put together without spending a  lot of time getting ready in the morning.

Below dare my ideal fall outfits.

Never Forget

Although I was only in first grade I remember 9/11/2001 very clearly. I remember the TVs going on at odd times during the days and the expressions teachers had. I remember seeing debris and buildings crashed into by airplanes and innocent people running for cover. I remember coming home and eating snack and continuing to watch the footage. Although I was unaware of what had occurred at the time, I knew it was not supposed to happen and that it was very bad. On this day of remembrance take a moment to be truly grateful for all you have and the people who fight for it!

It finally feels like fall! Fall is probably my favorite season especially since where I live spring and sumer are brutally hot. Another bonus to fall is that I can finally wear jeans and boots again. One of my favorite things to pair with jeans and a cute pair of boots would have to be a vest. Last year I purchased a really cute monogrammed vest from lands end and it became a staple in my closet last year! During the last Lilly sale on Rue La La I picked up a cute girls reversible vest and I know it will get a lot of use as well.

Although I do love my vests, recently I have been lusting over J.Crew's Excursion Quilted Vest. Sadly, it is kind of pricey and I am not sure I really need it since I have two (in a way 3) great vests already. Regardless, it is cute and I wanted to share it with y'all.

J.Crew inVESTments

My favorite is definitely the pink! It would look super cute with a navy and white striped shirt underneath and it looks so cozy. Below are two outfit ideas using these J.Crew Vests!

Polka Dots Please!

As fall is drawing near I have noticed a trend that I couldn't be happier about. Polka Dots seem to be a fall staple that are becoming readily available as more companies fall lines emerge. I happen to love polka dots and can't wait to jump on this ban-wagon!

I created several different looks on polyvore each using a different polka dot piece. The great thing about this trend is that you can make it as subtle as you'd like by simply adding polka dotted socks with boots or a fun dotted scarf.

polka dots please

Another great way to ease polka dots into your wardrobe is by purchasing a sweater which can easily be thrown on with jeans or dressed up with a skirt and some tights for a more sophisticated look. Old Navy and J.Crew right now seem to be the best places to purchase some cute polka dotted sweaters. J.Crew's will definitely come with a heftier price tag but probably last longer so I will most likely be purchasing one from Old Navy because their clothing has been improving as of late.

polka dots please

Another cute way I've seen this trend is in skirt or pant form. I personally don't think I am bold enough to pull of polka dotted pants so instead I used a cute skirt with a warm sweater and brown shoes and a belt. I also added in gold jewelry and a watch embodying this trend too!

Polka Dots Please

Will you be wearing polka dots this fall? If so which way do you wear them?

Miss Lucy's Monograms Spa Wrap Review and Giveaway

Over the summer, I was given the opportunity to review 5 products of my choice from an online monogram shop, Miss Lucy's Monograms. This post begins a series sponsored by Miss Lucy's Monograms which involves a product review and a giveaway for you! This months item is a Waffle Weave Spa Wrap - with a monogram, of course! At the end of this post you will be able to enter to win your very own Spa Wrap!

Miss Lucy's Monograms is an online shop that has over 500 products that are completely customizable! Not only do you get to choose your monogram font but they also have tons of font styles to choose from that are available in many colors to make your product even more personalized. Everything needed to be accomplished in order to get you your monogrammed goodie is done in their monogram studio!

Whether in college or not, this spa wrap is a bathroom must! This summer at camp I realized just how useful this item would have been if I had had it. It covers you enough to feel comfortable walking from your room to the bathroom without feeling the least bit exposed! Even if you aren't in college or a camp person this spa wrap can be just as useful for you too! I don't know about y'all but I always work up a sweat while blow drying my hair and that is the last thing you want to do after just showering! I find that if I cover up in this and then blow dry my hair I do not get nearly as hot during the process!

Another great thing about this product is that the elastic and velcro combination at the top allows you to have a comfortable fit, no matter your size. The Spa Wrap is made out of a waffle weave cotton and is surprisingly soft! Although this isn't going to absorb tons of water and shouldn't be used as a towel, it can definitely speed the drying process up. With a towel, your hands aren't exactly "hands free" but with a spa wrap like this you can do whatever you need to do without feeling like it is going to fall off.

The best part about this particular spa wrap is the pocket! I am not sure what exactly I would use it for but pockets are always an added bonus!

Now who wants to win their own?
Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter!

Good Luck!
