Step Into My Week

Happy Monday! I hope that y’all had a nice weekend and are feeling rested as you kick off your first week of February. After the Superbowl being last night, I know we may not all be in that camp, but fingers crossed.

It was surprisingly warmer out on Monday than it had been which seemed odd considering snow was in the forecast on Tuesday. The office was buzzing with whether or not we would be in the office on Tuesday which I think distracted me a bit with being productive getting things done. Fortunately, I didn’t have a ton on my to-do list and was still able to accomplish it all. I had a meeting for an upcoming shoot with a stylist that was fun and other than that started worked on a bit of writing and also did resources for an upcoming issue. I met my friend Macy at the Y afterward to stretch and do a workout together after both going on a long run the day before. We stretched for a while and then did an arms and ab circuit before walking a mile on the treadmills. After that, I came home and showered before eating dinner with my roommate and talking her in to watch the Fyre Festival Documentary that I had watched the night before. While we were watching I got an email that our office would be closed (woohoo) which was exciting. After debriefing from the documentary, we went to bed.

I woke up expecting there to be snow or ice at least and instead there was nothing. I felt bad that they had closed the office, but it was really nice to be able to work remotely from the comfort of my pajamas at my desk at home. Other than weekends I don’t hang out at my house during daylight hours, so I was able to accomplish some tasks that I had been putting off in addition to getting work done. I ate lunch while working so that I was able to go for a run in the afternoon and then walk with Nell as well since it ended up being sunny out. We were both a little chilly on our walk and hung out in her apartment for a little while after. I came home and showered before making dinner since my roommate, and I had planned to watch the previous night’s episode of the Bachelor together. I was in bed by 9:00 and read until I fell asleep.

Wednesday felt so much colder than Tuesday but there wasn’t any ice, so the office was opened back up again. I spent the morning doing various tasks and would say my afternoon was similar as well. After work I went to the Y, showered, and had dinner before getting in bed as usual. Thursday was similar as well. I was relatively busy at work in the morning and had lunch at the office with a bunch of my co-workers which was fun. I was able to book a flight and look into bachelorette plans for one of my best friend’s weddings which felt good to complete and gave me some exciting vacations to look forward to. After work, I went to the Y to run on the treadmill, and my friend Macy ended up meeting me there. Once I got home, I showered, put some laundry in the washer, made dinner and called Sophia to plan out some logistics for her bachelorette and catch up in general. As per usual we stayed on the phone talking later than we should have, but it was worthwhile.

Friday morning, I woke up excited for my Starbucks Friday tradition. I worked a half day and went to the library after work to get a few new books to read. I folded my laundry, had lunch, and relaxed before going with my roommate, Nell, and one of her roommates to free friend Friday at true40 that afternoon. Since Nell and her roommate had never been to Cookie Fix, we decided to venture there afterward to celebrate the end of the week. We went to Brick & Tin in Mountain Brook Village for dinner before heading home to shower and get ready for the evening’s activities. We went to Moe’s around 8:00 to meet up with some people that Nell and her roommate know and then went to a friend’s apartment before heading to one other stop before home. I was in bed by midnight which made me a very happy camper.

Saturday morning I slept in a little bit before heading to The Essential for brunch with my roommate and a girl that a friend had put us in touch with. We had a great time, and it was so nice to make another friend. Afterward, my roommate and I headed back to our house and hung out before going on a walk with our friends. Later on, some people came over to our house for a game night where we played QuipLash. I hadn’t heard of it, but it ended up being so fun! It was nice to have a laid back night but still socialize.

On Sunday I got up and went to Trader Joe’s before heading to church. The service we went to lasted a lot longer than expected, so I was especially glad to have already knocked going to the grocery store off of my list. Afterward, I went on an 11-mile run which ended up being a challenge since I was still sore from true40 and was hungry due to it being lunchtime. I was definitely relieved when I finally made it back home. I showered, made lunch, and made a dip for the Super Bowl parties we had on our agenda for the evening. We went to one around 5:30 and stayed for about an hour before heading to another one that we stayed at until the end of the game. Fortunately, both were super laid back with plenty of snacks to be consumed. We got home around 9:00 and I quickly changed into my pajamas and got in bed to read.

I hope that y’all had an equally enjoyable week and are looking forward to the week ahead. Unfortunately, it’s supposed to be rainy here most of the week which is a bummer, but maybe that will change!
