When I do actually remember to share my monthly favorites with y’all, I feel like it’s always halfway through the next month when I get around to posting them. Hopefully, y’all don’t mind that too much and instead are just excited to potentially be introduced to new items. It’s not uncommon that I have lots of new favorites when January rolls around since Christmas, and my birthday have both passed, and I have a few new items to try out. Some of these things are gifts I’ve received, but a lot of them were just things that I happened to try and love this past month.
Why did I wait so long to finally try these!? I considered getting a pair before I ran a half marathon last February and kept talking myself out of spending that much money on an upgraded version of something I already had. These are worth every penny and have made it so much easier for me to listen to podcasts and audiobooks at work since I’m often moving all around and wired headphones had a tendency to get in the way. They are also so great for working out and have settings that can be changed so that you’re able to pause them just by tapping the side of the pod or taking them out of your ears. Sadly, mine weren’t where I left them on my desk when I came into the office one day last week, and I am kicking myself for not putting them in my tote bag like I usually do when I leave. I am so hoping that they will somehow show up because as silly as it sounds, I really miss the mobility they allow while still listening to something, and I really don’t want to have to spend another $140 on a new pair.
Although the Peloton was technically my mom’s Christmas present, it quickly became a gift that kept giving that I promptly fell in love with too. It was so nice to be able not to leave my house to get in a workout while home for the holidays, and because we have an account through the bike, I am still able to access the workouts from their app. It’s not quite the same since the bikes I use when doing Peloton workouts at the Y aren’t as equipped as an actual Peloton, but it has been a really fun way to continue getting in bike workouts without paying for an additional studio membership.
Bob Goff’s Devotional, Live in Grace, Walk in Love
I love my time in the morning to sit in bed and read while drinking my coffee. If anything, it’s one of my biggest encouragers when it comes to getting up early. I have read the devotional New Morning Mercies for well over the past year and was ready for something new. When I heard about Bob Goff’s new book, I broke my over a year streak of not purchasing books and ordered it. I have really enjoyed his storytelling in his books in the past and love the encouragement he offers in this relatable read.
I am 100% blaming my friend Sophia on this obsession. We watched the entire season in two days, and now I’ve told everyone I know to watch it too. It reminded me a lot of The Newsroom, which was one of our family’s favorite shows. Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Anniston are a hard to beat duo, and every episode ends up better than the last. It’s only available on Apple TV, but you can sign up for a free seven day trial and cancel it before it’s over since it’s unlikely that it will take you seven days to watch it with how fast-paced and engaging it is.
Jeans are something I hate buying because of how expensive they can be. Because of that, I often just repurchase less expensive ones from places like Old Navy and end up wearing them out a lot quicker since they don’t hold their shape quite as well. When I was especially frustrated with how often I felt like I was having to pull up my jeans to keep them on, I forced myself to go to Madewell and try on a few pairs. It turns out I’ve been buying the wrong size jeans, which was problem one and I was reminded of how much it’s worth it to invest in quality when it comes to something you wear nearly daily. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled for more of Madewell’s jeans to go on sale, but I love this pair that I picked up.
While I feel like this snack was probably made for a much younger customer (and that mindset comes from seeing preschoolers eating these all the time), Veggie Straws are delicious and not terrible for you. Sometimes I am really in the mood for the crunch of a chip, but I could quickly fly through a whole bag, so it’s for the best not to keep them within easy access, so this is a great solution. I think there are a few different flavors, but the zesty ranch is my favorite that I have tried.
Ever since getting a reusable k-cup in the latter part of last year, I’ve been loving trying out different ground coffees. I’m a big fan of most things seasonal and am now on my second canister of Trader Joe’s Winter Blend coffee and will probably pick up another soon in case it goes off the shelves. It’s a little bit spicy with hints of cinnamon, and all-around just tastes delicious! If you aren’t lucky enough to live near a Trader Joe’s, I see their products on Amazon on occasion.
I’m sure some of y’all called it that a planner would make the cut of my January favorites. I love a fresh start and a brand new planner for the year seems to epitomize that. I am so thrilled to be using a Day Designer again and already have plans to get some photos for y’all and work on a blog post and maybe even a video sharing how I organize it.
My sister in law (and brother) knocked it out of the park when it came to my Christmas gift this year. Shannon and I now both have matching rings with the crest of our family’s last name engraved on them. Talk about a thoughtful gift! I really love unique jewelry with some sort of jewelry behind it and have had so many friends ask about it when it catches their eye. It has become a staple in my daily jewelry and love the thought behind it and that she and I both have one!
I’d love to hear anything you’ve been enjoying this past month. Share it with me in the comments below!
