I woke up this morning oddly energized after a relaxing weekend, which is good given that this week is filled with plenty to get done at work and fun activities once the workday is over. Last week felt particularly long even though I had Monday off, but I have a feeling this week may fly by. I wasn’t the best at remembering to take pictures of my outfits in the morning but will try to be better about that as this week kicks off.
I didn’t have work on Monday due to Veteran’s Day, so I slept in until 7:45 before showering and having my coffee and breakfast in bed while watching Gilmore Girls and working on gift guides. Pretty much all of my blog work the past couple of weeks has revolved around getting gift guides ready for y’all, and I’m excited to start sharing them consistently this week (although if you missed the first one from last week, it can be found here). Once I finally got myself ready, I went to Shop Minette to pick up some pieces for a try on session I did on Instagram for the boutique last Monday. From there, I decided to camp out in a coffee shop for a while to continue to work on blog posts in an attempt to not have to work too much when I am at home next week for Thanksgiving. I stayed there until around 2:00 before heading to Trader Joe’s to tackle my grocery shopping for the week and eventually coming home. I cooked a delicious lasagna soup, filmed the try on haul, did some cleaning, and was able to continue to make progress on gift guides before heading to sleep that night. I actually vlogged my day on Monday, which will be up on my Youtube channel tonight if you are interested in seeing me in action from my day off.
On Tuesday, it was back to work, and I spent the majority of my day shadowing a food shoot that was happening in the studio. Since I will be moving into the role of stylist soon, I have been able to spend about two days each week shadowing other stylists for photoshoots for magazines that I haven’t done as much with. This has been helpful as I learn the ropes and get to know the other stylists even better. Between shots, I was able to get some complimentary copies sent, manage some content from previous issues, and shoot at emails. We wrapped the shoot a little after five, and I was off to the Cahaba location of true40 for a workout class. Once I got home, I showered and cooked dinner while also preparing some blog posts.
Wednesday was COLD, and I spent most of the day outside assisting at a photoshoot. Thankfully there was a fireplace where we were able to build a fire to warm up with between shots. At one point, two coyotes ran past us, which was very alarming but the only out of the ordinary event of the day. I was very thankful for the two pairs of socks I put on and the hot hands I packed to help keep me warm. I was able to go into the office for a couple of hours after we wrapped the shoot before heading home to quickly eat dinner and head to the Jonas Brother’s concert. My roommate and I were going together along with one of her high school friends and that friends’ friend from college. We got to the concert around 8:00 and listened to the two openers before the Jonas Brothers came on stage. Before they could get the first song out, there were about two minutes worth of screaming. The concert was a lot of fun, and I appreciated that they played a good mix of their older songs. Once it was over, we finally got home just before midnight, which made for a long Thursday.
I definitely had a lot of coffee on Thursday to combat my late bedtime but was overall pretty productive. I worked on invoices, outreach emails, sourcing items for upcoming shoots, and social captions. From work, I went to the Y to run on the treadmill for a bit before quickly heading home to shower and change to go to my friend Anna’s surprise birthday dinner at a Mexican restaurant in Mountain Brook. It was fun to get together to celebrate her, but I was very excited to get in bed when the time came.
Friday morning, I woke up early to go to the 5:15 class at the downtown location of true40. I came home and ate breakfast and showered before heading off to Starbucks for a bit before coming into the office. Friday flew by likely due to my full to-do list, and after work, I went to get a haircut. I came home and ate lunch and prepped our dining room for photos that will go live on the blog tomorrow before Nell came over to help me with that. She stayed and hung out before we went to a very early dinner at Brick and Tin so that she could go to her brother’s high school football game about an hour away. I was in my pajamas on the couch, ready for a laid-back night by 7:00, and it was so ideal. I can’t remember the last time I had a night to myself to do that, and with so many friends out of town, it was nice not to feel guilty about it!
I woke up around 8:00 on Saturday and had coffee in bed while working on blog posts and watching Gilmore Girls. I started some laundry and had breakfast before meeting my friend Macy at the house she was house-sitting at for the weekend. We went for a nice walk on Saturday morning before grabbing lunch at Carrigan’s (downtown) and exploring some new shops in Birmingham (Alkmy, General, and Dreamer Supply Co). We made it back to the house just in time for her to watch her Georgia Bulldogs beat Auburn. The rest of the night revolved around football, and we made a fire to enjoy while watching the games. Eventually, we put on our pajamas and turned on a Hallmark movie before both falling asleep in the living room. When we woke up, we headed to bed and were probably asleep again before 11:30.
Sunday morning, we made another fire, started a second Hallmark movie, and enjoyed our coffee and breakfast. We went for another walk that morning before I eventually went back to my house to do laundry and prepare for the week ahead. I showered and was able to get a lot of cleaning done before talking on the phone with Nell and my parents. Since I have two friendsgivings I am attending this week, I went ahead and made two sweet potato cakes as my contribution to those. Once those finished, I made dinner, watched part of the Parent Trap on Disney Plus, and then got in bed.
As a heads up to those of you who read these posts, I will have more posts than usual up this week as I begin to post gift guides. So, if you’re loyal to checking the blog in the morning, be sure to also stop by in the afternoon so that you don’t miss any of the great gift ideas I’ve come up with. I hope you have a great week!
