Beach Bag Worthy Books

It's not a Novels with Nell week but that doesn't mean we can't talk books, right? We had a bit of a cold snap yesterday which is ironic since the lounge chairs have just made their way back out by my apartment's pool. On Saturday we had a quick taste of the weather that will hopefully eventually be consistent, and I couldn't help but picture myself stretched out by the pool with a book in hand.

I have a tendency to read more in the summer and I think that is due to being by the pool or bay. When I was younger, my family would move down to my parents beach house (about 40 minutes from my house) for the whole month of July. While I'm sure we came back home on occasion, we spent pretty much every day and night there. We have never installed wifi there which is why I always think of it when I think of summer reading (both for pleasure and not back in high school). After being in the sun all morning, we'd have a designated rest time during which there really was nothing else to do other than read or nap. My brother and I fought it when we were younger but now I love using going to the beach as an excuse to unplug.

I think those memories from my childhood are part of the reason I don't love looking at my phone while I am by the pool. Here in Greenville it is the closest reminder that I am going to get of the beach and those rest time reading sessions resurface while sitting by the pool. With that said, I can mow through a book a lot faster in the summer since I'm not distracted by my phone. Since warmer weather is on its way and pool/beach time will be on the horizon soon, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my recent favorite books that would be classified as beach bag worthy. I will warn you, I tend to gravitate towards psychological thrillers and inspirational/self help style books. As I discover new favorites I'll be sure to let you know, but if you're ever looking for what I'm currently reading I share that in the "lately" section of my Monday  Step Into My Week posts!

Here are a few books that I've recommended to numerous friends because of how much I enjoyed them. I've included a short snippet of what amazon has to say about each since they have a way of making them sound more appealing than I do!

Shop the books below and be sure to leave me your recommendations for what I should put in my beach bag this summer!
