I am currently writing this post at the Starbucks near my apartment due to the lack of wifi we currently have in our new place. As much as I didn't want to set my alarm for 6:00 the workers at this Starbucks are so peppy that it is making this early morning a bit better (and having a gift card for coffee didn't hurt either). So with that, I am officially back in Greenville but we will get there considering we have a whole week to cover first.
For Monday being a holiday I feel like I really started the week running. This past week was one of the most productive I've had in a while. Monday, although it was relaxed, was a day where I was able to get a lot of around the house stuff and post work done and that's kind of how the rest of the week went as well. I really have been trying to make sure that I am planning in advance when it comes to posts since I am not really sure what to expect when grad school starts on Wednesday night. That has led to more posts
I was able to see a few friends this week and met up with Nell for our last round of outfit posts for a while and drove back to Greenville on Saturday. I keep referring to coming back as "back to school" or "back to Furman" and that's not totally accurate which is a little weird. While yes I am coming back to school it's not the typical Furman I am used to so I think getting back on campus may be a little bit weird.
After arriving in Greenville on Saturday afternoon after a pretty uneventful drive (although someone commented on my instagram that they saw me at my coffee pit stop along the way which is cool) I unloaded my car and decided to tackle my grocery list. I feel like this coming week will be one filled with errands as I attempt to set up my apartment and get some essentials. I set up what I could but really didn't make that much progress. Then yesterday I scooted off to Charlotte to go to IKEA and see my big, Caroline, who lives there. Y'all my IKEA adventure was just that, an adventure. I picked out the dresser I wanted online so knew exactly what I was searching for in that regard but a mattress was a whole different story. After feeling awkward and trying out mattresses for a solid 15 minutes I finally decided on one only to discover downstairs in the warehouse that it was one of the few mattresses at IKEA that doesn't come rolled up when packaged. WOMP. It was back to the drawing board as I struggled to push my cart with the dresser pieces that were a challenge to load into a holding zone so that I could go back upstairs and test mattresses again. I was not a fan of that considering I had to go against the traffic of people at IKEA on a Saturday to test these out again. Loading my mattress on the cart wasn't a breeze either but I survived and am here to tell the tale so I guess that is all that matters. Thank goodness for the sweet IKEA man watching me struggle to load these items into my car (and nail my head on my true door) who offered to help me out. He knew what he was doing and I was so thankful that I looked helpless and he helped, ha! Moral of the story: don't go to IKEA by yourself if you can't load 80 pound pieces of furniture onto a cart or in your car by yourself. And the best part of all of this is that I vlogged it for y'all. I'm not positive when it will go up (I vlogged Saturday as well so that one will go up first) but be sure to go and subscribe to my youtube channel so that you can be notified. I am hoping to continue to include vlogs for y'all since you really do seem to love them.
Accurately describes my enthusiasm when someone asked if they could help me load stuff on my cart once I was finished. A bit dramatic but I was over IKEA at this point. |
Once I finally left IKEA Caroline and I had a late lunch at this cute French cafe called Amelies and enjoyed some time catching up. Then it was back to Greenville with a quick pit stop at the Pottery Barn outlet (I got us two cute pillows for our living room) on the way. I was able to convince a friend to come and help me unload my furniture which is making my room feel slightly more put together. I unrolled my mattress and slept on it instead of an air mattress (yippee) and am going to try to tackle the dresser today. Yesterday's dinner consisted of cereal since I had a late lunch and my appetite has been weird since I don't really feel settled so I am certainly taking the adult world by storm. For all those pictures you see where everything is so put together and seems perfect know that most people probably have a picture like this sent to their group chat with boxes everywhere and no sheets for their bed (I'm trying to convince myself it isn't just me).
I feel like this was really scattered but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless. I've had so many posts go live this week that I would love for you to check out! And as always if you have any requests let me know!
Haha your face at Ikea! Excited to see the matching vlog!
