Summer 2018 Favorites

Where has the summer gone? It honestly feels like the last day of school just happened, and now my friends are back in their classrooms preparing for a new group of kiddos. I definitely thought I would have more time to do things this summer but with grad school and everything else that wasn't necessarily the case. One thing that I definitely slacked on was sharing my monthly favorites with y'all. So, to make up for that, I thought it would be fun to share my favorite items of the entire summer. Some of these things you may have already seen when I did remember to share my favorites, but others are hopefully new recommendations to you!

I have split my favorites into categories for you to hopefully make it a bit easier. I could rave about each of these products for a while but attempted to keep it concise for y'all, but know that these are without a doubt some of the best products I have discovered for myself!

Lifestyle:

I originally saw this top back in high school and had wanted it ever since. I was ecstatic when J.Crew brought it back this summer. I own it in two colors and think it is one of the most flattering swimsuits on my body type not to forget how comfortable and fuss-free it is!

This has been my favorite book of the summer. It's a psychological thriller and was a quick read. If you like that genre and are looking for a new poolside read, I can't recommend this enough.

Whenever I wear these hoops on Instagram or Instagram stories I always get questions. That makes me laugh since these seem like every Furman girls staple earring. I didn't think I could pull off hoops until I tried these!

Ever heard the saying "if you love it, buy it in every color?" Well, that's what I did with these. I have had the blue lens pair of these sunglasses since last summer and loved them so much I now own them with the regular lenses. I have a pretty small head so to find sunglasses that actually work on me is a challenge, but these fit the bill without breaking the bank!

I know I can't be the only person trying not to sweat to death in this summer heat. My Yeti cup has been my tried and true for attempting to stay hydrated all summer long. It's perfect for transporting iced coffee or water and really does keep things as cold as it promises.

Beauty:

My grandmother gave me this product since it didn't work for her and I have been a fan ever since. Applied with a beauty blender, the dewy finish of this light-coverage cream is perfect for the summer. I'm on my second tube and anticipate continuing to use it well into the fall.

I wish I had never discovered Alterna's hair products because I don't think I'll ever be able to stray away from using them. This product, in particular, is one I've begun to use every time after washing my hair. It leaves my hair so soft and manageable even after just blowing it dry. I have also found that this tube will last me a long time since it seems like I've barely made a dent in it and have been reaching for it the better half of this summer.

Admittedly, I don't really know what Witch Hazel is supposed to do for your skin, but I use it as a toner after I get out of the shower. This particular brand is super affordable, and the bottle's spray cap makes it really easy to apply. This has been my go-to when it comes to hydrating my skin or refreshing it after being outside in the sun.

I have loved all of the different scents of Native Deodorant I've tried and think that it is the best natural deodorant of the ones on the market. It took a little bit to get used to it, but now that I am, I definitely don't plan to switch back to the aluminum filled deodorants that I used to use.

Beautycounter Counter Match (20% off today!)
I think this is my second or third tube of this moisturizer and I definitely plan to continue to purchase it. Everything that the description says it does is accurate, and it has done such a good job of keeping my face soft!

This may be my #1 recommendation out of all of these products. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to go without it again. It is seriously magic. The product comes out of the tube white and as you're applying it to your face changes color to match your skin tone to give you a healthy looking glow (like the label implies). I'll use this alone if I'm not wanting to really put on makeup but look a little more put together than wearing nothing at all or I'll use it as a base for the rest of my makeup. Try it once, and you will be hooked.

Powder has always been my way of keeping my makeup in place, and this one by RMS beauty is the perfect coverage and consistency for the summer. It seems to do the same thing as a translucent powder but does so while providing a bit of color to my skin. I highly recommend applying it with Beautycounter's amazingly soft powder brush.

While I don't use this every day and was skeptical of what exactly a lash primer did for a while, this product definitely helps to make your lashes look a bit bolder. It goes on white and separates your lashes to serve as a base for your mascara. If I'm heading to an event or want my eyes to look a bit bolder, this is the product I reach for.

L'Oreal's Lash Paradise Mascara coupled with the lash primer above is a killer combo. My roommate introduced me to this mascara, and I am so glad that she did! It lengthens and adds volume to my lashes. I am a huge fan!

While I will always be partial to Essie's Fiji, this color in the gel formula has been on constant rotation this summer. It's the prettiest light pink and stays on for a long time which is much appreciated!

Did you make it this far? If so, I want to hear what would make your list for your summer favorites! Also, feel free to leave any blog posts you want to see below.
