Step Into My Week

Y'all I am so excited for this week since Thursday and Friday are part of my student's fall break. As a teacher we can have two exchange days per year by trading in professional development hours so I am going to take Friday off and save my other exchange day for next semester. This timing is perfect because it is also Furman's homecoming next weekend and Nell gets into town on Thursday. Y'all will hear plenty more about all of that excitement next week but first I need to recap this past week.

School wise this week felt really long. The days didn't feel too bad but with parent conferences before and after school I didn't feel like I was able to do many of the things I wanted to do at school so that I wouldn't have as much work at home. Wednesday night Sophia and I spent two hours catching up at Chipotle which was much needed before powering on through the end of the week. Friday we had our big fall fundraiser which is a school wide carnival. To celebrate the day the students were able to wear mismatched clothes and crazy hair which added to their excitement of the event. Come the end of the day I wished I had an ounce of all the energy that they had! I worked the earliest shift of the carnival so was able to leave and meet up with some of my friends for dinner before heading home completely exhausted!

Saturday morning I got up and drove to Charlotte to visit my big for a concert we were going to see. This little weekend get away was exactly what I needed. We went to brunch after I arrived and ended up eating at a table next to the opener of the concert, Midland, which made us feel extra cool! We went in some boutiques and shopped around before heading back to Caroline's apartment to get ready for the concert. Before going to the concert we went to a cool rooftop bar that had a great view of the Charlotte skyline and grabbed dinner at a delicious taco place. Somehow we were a bit off with our timing considering we thought the openers were going to go on around 8:00 when in reality that didn't happen until around 10:00. The venue was well suited to a country concert and we were able to make some friends while waiting for Jon Pardi to start. Both Midland and Jon Pardi did a great job and it was all around a super fun concert despite how hot it got in the venue. After the concert we hung out for a bit before heading back in for the night.

I got up and left Charlotte after breakfast yesterday morning so that I could get back in time to get some work done. I even ended up having time to go for a walk, take a nap, and watch Hocus Pocus without feeling overly stressed for the week! I hope that y'all had a great weekend and are looking forward to a good week as well!
