Step Into My Week 12.7

It feels like a bit since I’ve been by the blog to share a new post with y’all, even though, in reality, it has only been two days. While I would’ve liked to have posts up for you this weekend, I felt a little burnt out after trying to get so much content live in December and gave myself a bit of a break. It’s back to full speed ahead this week, though, since I am planning to share the last of my gift guides with y’all as you check off the last of your Christmas shopping. Workwise I thought this week was going to be less stressful after today, but it’s looking like I’m going to have to fill in for a coworker’s big shoot on Thursday. I’m a people pleaser by nature, so while I certainly want to help to get this done, stepping in at the last minute when I thought I was going to be able to get ahead before starting my holiday vacation next week isn’t exactly ideal. Hopefully, it all goes better than expected.

As for last week, I started my Monday morning with a workout at true40 before showering and working from home the rest of the day. I had a meeting that morning, which I did by video next to our Christmas tree while finalizing details for my shoots for the week. It was especially cold out and even started to flurry in the afternoon, which was surprising given how warm our fall had been. That night I made dinner and did blog work while watching the past week’s episode of The Bachelorette before getting in bed.

I shared this sweater with y'all on Instagram stories on Monday and was shocked by how many of y'all ordered it. It's so cozy to throw on with leggings while working from home!

I had a food shoot on Tuesday, so I was in the office early to pull props for the day. The shoot lasted until around 2:30 when I headed downstairs to unpack the surplus of boxes at my desk for my shoot on Thursday and the one I have today. I had to run a few errands in the afternoon in preparation for Thursday but made it home in time to go for a walk with my friend later in the afternoon. That night we made jambalaya for dinner (this is the recipe we used) and watched the next two episodes for The Queen’s Gambit.

Wednesday was a busy one with lots of errands to run and packing up to prepare for my tablescape shoot the following day. I got home around 5:00 and showered and made dinner before watching the newest episode of The Bachelorette with my roommate before bed.

Since Thursday was the day of the shoot, I woke up especially early and ran a few errands before getting to the location to set up around 9:30. It took us about an hour to get everything in place, and from there, the shoot moved pretty quickly. We finished around 1:00, and I stopped by a friend’s house to pick up our leaf blower, which ended up resulting in us grabbing a late lunch before I worked from home the rest of the afternoon. I briefly went to the store and came home to get ready for my plans for the night. My friend and I went to see It’s A Wonderful Life at the Alabama Theater, which I have done every year since living here. There’s something especially festive about being in an old theater to watch the movie.

In order to prepare for my shoot today, I went back into the office on Friday to finish unpacking boxes and sorting products to be shot. I left the office pretty overwhelmed since with shipping delays this time of year, not everything has come in, but I pretty much knew that going into this shoot and tried to remind myself it wasn’t the end of the world. I’m hoping it’ll turn out better than expected when we start shooting things today. After a brief panic session in a garden shop parking lot, I came home to make lunch and sit on the sofa. My roommate loves Hallmark Christmas movies and turned one on that I halfway watched while working on gift guides. I tried to take a nap in the afternoon but couldn’t seem to fall asleep and eventually got up and showered and then talked on the phone to Nell. That night a friend and I got Saw’s for dinner and finished watching the last two episodes of The Queen’s Gambit before I went to bed early.

All of Saturday was pretty lazy, with me doing a lot of work from my computer. Around 11:30, I went to Nell’s apartment to hang out with her while she did some computer work as well. I went home around 4:00 to shower and get ready to watch the Alabama game outside at a friend’s house. It ended up being much colder than I thought it would be, so I was glad to have brought a blanket.

Sunday was a productive day spent mainly at home. I had a few cups of coffee in the morning while working on things before going to the store and making food for the week. I really wanted to go on a walk in the afternoon to finish my audiobook, but it started to rain, and I instead decided to take everything out of our kitchen cabinets and pantry to clean and reorganize them. I didn’t really realize that I was committing to a three-hour project when I started that, but it feels nice to have it done at this point. That night I went to grab sushi with a couple of friends, and we started the second movie of Home Alone. I left well before it was halfway over so that I could go to sleep early.

Last week I felt more stressed out and in my own head than normal, so I’m hoping this week that changes some. It’s my last full week before being off for Christmas, so I’m officially in the home stretch and am ready for some time to unplug!
