In My Christmas Jammies

If you had to think about which night consistently each year is one of the hardest ones to fall asleep  and stay asleep during I can almost guarantee that any kid would tell you Christmas Eve. The excitement leading up to Christmas morning certainly still affects my sleep on the 24th although I've gotten a lot better over the years and have learned to sleep in a bit later the morning of. My brother and I used to ask our parents what time was the *earliest* that we could wake them up on Christmas morning and that time as we've been in college has moved back from the 6:30 start time we had in grade school. If the sleep before Christmas is going to feel like the longest night then why not get comfy in a new pair of PJs. There is something about Christmas pajamas that seem so festive and cozy and maybe its because of the memories made with family while in them.

Each December as the holidays approach retailers seem to release more and more cute Christmas pajamas. I have two great pairs, one from J.Crew and one from J.Crew Factory, that have been getting a lot of wear the past two years. There is something about a matching pajama set that makes me feel put together despite the fact that I am still in pajamas. While I am still pushing to force my brother to get matching pairs I've started to give up hope making it a bit easier to pick out which festive pair I'd want without having to find a matching one for guys.

And if you think coffee on Christmas morning tastes better out of a spirited mug I can attest to that and will be reluctant to put these cute ones from Evelyn Henson away as the season comes to an end.

This year is no different than years past with a number of cute options available online that should still arrive in time for you to debut them on Christmas Eve. Speaking of Christmas Eve, one of my favorite traditions after arriving back from church and my aunt's house is to put on  my Christmas pajamas and organize all the Christmas presents. You could say that this was an originally indicator of some OCD tendencies but I like to think I've always enjoyed making things look aesthetically pleasing while epitomizing the Christmas spirit (we can pretend right?). I've done that as long as I can remember and still love to come into the living room with tree lights twinkling and do this as my family watches (typically suppressing their laughter but not their sarcastic comments) while figuring out where each person will sit and finally having an excuse to touch all the presents. I'm not sure that this tradition would be just as festive if it weren't for Christmas pajamas so if you're on the hunt for a new pair here are some of my favorites:

P.S. If you don't get the reference then it is about time you watch this families hysterical holiday videos. After their first Christmas Jammies video went viral they've continued to make them and I look forward to seeing them year after year.

  1. I love your pj's! When I was younger we used to stay at my aunts house on Christmas Eve because it was always more fun when my sister and I got to open our presents with our cousins! That was until we started to get in trouble for waking everyone up at 3am to open presents!
