The other day I sent a picture of a plate to my friends in our group text with a caption that said, “If I were a plate, this is what I would look like.” Given the context of my job, they weren’t too shocked by that comparison, but writing it out now, it sounds a bit odd. Unsurprisingly, the plate was navy and light blue with a subtle mix of silver stripes and scalloped edges. I didn’t think a plate could better sum up my style than when I started working on this tablescape to share with Freshly Set.
I think I should just send them this post as a correction to my previous statement since if I were a table, this is what I think I would look like. It probably comes as no surprise to y’all that navy and light blue are involved since I tend to decorate best with this duo, but raffia placemats and napkin rings, floral glassware, and patterned linens with scalloped edging makes it that much better.

here, but in short, Freshly Set is a new tabletop rental site that is essentially Rent the Runway for any dinner party you’re hosting. The founder was actually featured in this month’s issue of Southern Living and previously worked as a designer for Amanda Lindroth.
I’m a big fan of having dinner at the table when I’m not eating by myself (and if that’s the case, the sofa is where you can find me) since I grew up eating dinner with my family nightly. Freshly Set’s goal is to make entertaining feel effortless, which is certainly the case when scrolling through the products offered on their site and placing an order. You can easily customize your cart to indicate the number of guests, and they make clean up a breeze since they clean the items after you return them.
For this table, Amanda Lindroth’s blue floral tablecloth and napkins dictated what else I wanted to add to my order. When I saw the black berries napkin rings by Mercedes Salazar and octagonal abaca placemat by Fete Home, I knew the rest would come easily. Don’t tell my mom, but I opened up the Tuckernuck Tervis Tumblers I gave her for her birthday (you know, for quality control) and set them on our buffet for a designated drink station since they couldn’t have matched more perfectly than they do. White china with a blue rim was the perfect neutral for an otherwise busy table. To not go overboard with the color scheme, I added some pinks and yellows to the simple arrangements I made, and I love the way it made everything pop!
At this point, I’m more than ready to start having friends over again just so that I have an excuse to scheme new table ideas from Freshly Set, but in the meantime, I’ll stick to planning table settings for work!
