Step Into My Week 5.11

Week nine working from home here I come! I can’t believe I am saying this, but in some ways, I can’t believe we are already nine weeks into this, while at other times it feels like it has been much much longer. Regardless, I’m doing my best to make the most of it while still following the protocols in place. I will say this past week was our first official one where we are required to wear masks in public, and that served as an ever-present reminder that this certainly isn’t over yet. It also made me that much more impressed with all of the people whose professions require wearing masks constantly since I get very excited to take mine off and exhale freely once I am back in the comfort of my own space.

Mondays often feel like the easiest days to be productive since a large part of my morning is taken up with video calls for the shoots I’ll be styling during the week. From there, I create my photo worksheets and send out emails to those teams, meaning lunchtime tends to come quicker than expected. I ate my lunch outside on our deck and stayed out there for a bit, getting some work done before heading back inside. I had some emails to send out and a few other random tasks that I spent my afternoon working on. After I was done with my work for the day, I went for a run that ended up being brutally hot. When I got home, one of our neighbors stopped by to catch up with my roommate and me, and we hung out chatting on our back deck until close to 8:00. I quickly showered and made dinner so that Rebecca and I could watch another episode of Outerbanks before we went to bed.

I decided that I wanted my Tuesday to be equally as productive as Monday, so I started my day sending out emails and updating my to-do list for the week. I worked through a bit of it before stopping to make a quiche for lunch and then jumping back to it. When it was time to close my computer for the day was when Cinco de Mayo celebrations also began. My roommate and I made the margaritas I shared in last week’s blog post before I went to a friend's house for dinner. We were supposed to pick up carry out Mexican food from a local favorite, but all of them were insanely busy, so we resorted to making tacos at home instead. While it definitely wasn’t the same and I’m going to need my Taco Mama fix soon, I’ll still count it as properly celebrating. We watched a movie after that and then I went home and went to sleep.

On Wednesday, I decided to go into the office for a little bit to prepare for my shoot the following day. I was there for about an hour, which broke up my day nicely. The weather was surprisingly cool, so I went for a run during my lunch break and ate lunch while working on things on my computer outside. I wrapped that up around 5:00 and then worked on some blog work for a bit. I went for a walk after that and started some laundry and showered once I got home. Then I made dinner and logged on to our virtual Wednesday night bible study before going to bed.

Thursday morning, I woke up a little earlier than I have been since I needed to be in the office for a shoot. I decided to wash my sheets since I had plans to go out of town over the weekend and love coming home to a clean room. Luckily I was able to put them in the dryer before I left for work. Our shoot started around 8:30, and the first few recipes went pretty quickly. We finally wrapped around 3:30, and I left the office and headed to the grocery store to pick up some snacks for the weekend. When I got home, my roommate and I had plans to catch up with our friend Allie which was so nice since we haven’t seen most of our friends in person in a while. After that, I showered and made dinner before Rebecca and I finished the last two episodes of Outerbanks. I still needed to put my laundry away, put my fresh sheets on my bed, and pack for the beach, so I didn’t end up going to bed until around 11:00.

My alarm went off around 4:50 on Friday morning since my friend and I were planning to leave Birmingham for Destin at 6:00. We left around 6:15 and made great time on the way down and didn’t even end up stopping at all on the way down. It was nice because I was able to get some work done during the drive meaning that when we got to the beach around 10:30, it officially felt like the weekend. We were staying there with two other friends who had been at the house the whole week so they already had ideas in mind of how we should start the trip. We unloaded the car and walked down the beach to a waterfront restaurant called Pompano Joe’s. We were able to sit on the balcony and eat lunch before walking back down the beach to change and spend the rest of the day by the water. It was super windy this day, which made it really comfortable to sit on the beach until 6:00 but made spray sunscreen a little bit less effective despite how often everyone reapplied. It looked like it was going to rain, which sent us back to the house to hang out on the balcony before getting cleaned up and picking up pizza for dinner. After dinner, we played Mario Party and went to sleep.

Didn't do a great job of taking actual pictures at the beach, but this swimsuit is recent and can be found here along with other outfit details.

Saturday morning, the water was a lot calmer and the temperatures were a bit warmer, but before we made our way out onto the beach, we decided to head to Waffle House. It was interesting to see the safeguards they put into place when it comes to the virus, and even the menu is now contactless. We all filled up on the All-Star Special before making our way back to the house to get ready to walk out to the beach. We hung out there until around 3:30 when we walked back down to Pompano Joe’s for a drink and appetizer before heading in for the day. We picked up Mexican food to go and ate that before hanging out and watching Saturday Night Live before bed.

We decided to grab brunch at Another Broken Egg on Sunday before we all left to head back to Birmingham. There was a bit of a wait, but eventually, we were seated outside and got our breakfast. We went back to the house to clean and pack up but sat on the balcony for a bit before actually getting in the car around 1:00 and leaving. The drive back was pretty easy, and once I got home, I unpacked, showered, and got in bed. I’m pretty sure I was asleep before 9:00!

I hope that y’all had a nice week and weekend!
