5 Random Facts You May Not Know About Me

I have been trying for the past few weeks to get a winter wardrobe essential post live for y’all since so many winter staples are going on sale but am having the hardest time figuring out a way to format the post how I’d like. So instead of continuing to be frustrated by that, I thought it would be fun to do a more personal post with some fun facts about myself that you may not know.

I hate bananas.
I’m not sure if it’s because I wasn’t fed them as a child (my mom is allergic) or if I had some terrible experience with them, but I cannot stand bananas. Anything banana flavored is a no go for me, and the actual fruit is definitely not something I want to eat. I was once on a date and didn’t pay much attention to the fact that what I ordered came with grilled banana and I took a bite thinking it was grilled squash. The guy told me that he thought I was about to get sick based on my facial expression which sounds like it must’ve been really cute. My roommate and I only recently put together how much we both despised bananas and decided that it’s a good thing considering how passionately against them we are.

I used to think it would be really cool to be an astronaut.
Space has always fascinated me. Nerdy, I know but growing up it was my favorite thing to learn about in science class (and my favorite thing to teach about when I taught too). For a while there I thought it would be so cool to be an astronaut. That only lasted until I realized that I don’t just love heights and considering space is about as far away from Earth as you can get, I realized that maybe that wasn’t the career for me. Regardless, I’ve been to space camp and will typically stop to read any space-related articles that come up online.

I trained myself to become more of a morning person.
Ask my dad about high school morning me, and he will tell you that my way to respond to his questions while eating breakfast before school was by grunting. While I think he is exaggerating a bit, in the past few years, I’ve trained myself to become more of a morning person. Whether waking up early for work or a workout I can usually snap out of my sleepiness pretty quickly (that is after I’ve ignored an alarm or two first).

When I laugh, usually no noise comes out.
I’m one of those people that once you get to laugh doesn’t always make a sound. I’m not sure why this is the case, but it happens. It was particularly frustrating when I’d be tickled as a child because it would make it so that it was harder to talk (and silently laugh) at one while trying to get someone to stop tickling me.

I used to have a pet rabbit.
The first pet that I had from 5th grade until my freshman year of college way a bunny. The story behind getting him was a bit manipulative on 5th grade me’s part but worth it. When I tell people now that growing up, I didn’t have a dog and had a bunny rabbit instead they usually aren’t that shocked. Not sure what that says about me, but Thumper was the best first pet.

I hope that y’all found this kind of fun and learned something new about me in the process. If you have any good fun facts about yourself, leave them in the comments so that I can get to know you better as well!
