Step Into My Week

Happy Monday! I made it a point to go to bed early last night and woke up feeling so refreshed this morning. I haven't always been the best about early bedtimes, but after teaching last year, going to sleep on the earlier side was important. I'm hoping that I can keep that up now as well.

This past week went by really fast for me. It was the perfect mix of relaxation, on the go, and socializing. Monday morning it was back to work to gear up for a pretty busy week for our team. That afternoon once I got home, I quickly changed and went for a run through some of the neighborhoods near me before it got too dark. Although the temperature has remained consistently hot, it's noticeable that the sun is starting to set a little bit earlier which may be the only indicator of fall for those of us in the south currently. Tuesday was really exciting since I got to assist a stylist on location for a food photo shoot. It's amazing all of the moving parts that make this happen, and I really enjoyed being able to watch the process. I went to dinner that night with a couple of friends from home before having Nell over for a little bit and then retreating to bed to watch Sierra Burgess is a Loser (I can not recommend this and was so confused by why I had heard so much about it). Wednesday I spent equal parts in and out of the office running errands for a stylist for a shoot we had the following day. That shoot was amazing to watch as well and turned out absolutely stunning. Work on Friday went by incredibly fast since we took some time to celebrate a team members birthday, I packaged up some different things for a stylist, and had to make a few returns for her in the area. It has been so nice having half days on Fridays, but I've quickly realized that as soon as I get home, the productive mode is done. I'm hoping to eventually start using that afternoon time as my designated time to write the next week's blog posts, but I'm just not there yet.

My mom's high school roommate brought by the sweetest welcome to Birmingham gift on Friday complete with delicious macarons that we have been happily trying out. After spending a good part of Friday afternoon watching a movie, my roommate and I decided to get dinner together at Real and Rosemary in Homewood. I had their southwest salad which was incredible (I'm going to have to figure out how to recreate it at home) and Rebecca, and I split the sweet potato wedges and the honey ricotta dip appetizers. Once we got back, we were quick to put on pajamas and choose a movie to watch in the living room. My friend Macy happened to be near our house and stopped in to hang out for a bit and get a tour.

The next morning, Macy met up with us at Continental Bakery to grab a coffee before heading to the Pepper's Place market. I hadn't been to that area of town yet, so I was happy to explore. We grabbed a light lunch at Carrigan's before fueling up with another coffee and the most delicious cookie, the breakup cookie, at Church Street Coffee in Homewood. We all met up later that night with a few more people at Brat Brot (near downtown) to watch the Alabama game. To end our night, we went to Big Spoon Creamery. On Sunday, I was able to get a lot done around the house before heading to Taste of Mountain Brook to try food from local restaurants. While this was definitely fun, it was also incredibly hot out. Rebecca and I had considered walking to it, and I'm glad we didn't because we would've been drenched. I went to Trader Joe's afterward which wasn't my best decision since it was packed, but it was worth it to finally get some Pumpkin O's. Later that afternoon when it had cooled off I went for a long walk and called my parents to catch up. I finished the night out by showering, packing my bag for work and working out, and making some dinner for the week.

I'd love to know what you have been up to!
