Graduation Gift Ideas

We are halfway through a week that I wish would just slow down. I can't say that everyone at Furman feels that way since this has been exam week however, since I don't have any exams and am trying to enjoy my last bit of time as an undergrad I personally wish I had a pause button for the next few days. With graduation creeping up on Saturday and relatively soon for most college students I thought now would be the perfect time to share some gifts that would be great to give both high school and college graduates.

A number of the gifts that I was given in high school are things I still use regularly. The monogrammed towels and shower wrap are used daily as is the bracelet my parents gave me. As much as people hate to give money or gift cards those are both items that are extremely useful as you head off to school or even into the real world. I have broken this post up into two different parts that separates the graduation gifts by price.

First are the bigger ticket graduation gifts. All of these items are over $70. Hopefully if you're giving someone this generous of a gift you know them well enough to choose something you think that they will truly enjoy. For family, a trip could also be a fun (more pricey) gift to give and as a soon to be college graduate I also don't think furniture or a mattress would be a bad idea either!

Some of my favorites on the big ticket item list?

When you're far from home, stressed, and needing comfort what could be better than a pair of matching pajamas. There is something about a matching pajama set that magically makes me feel like I have my life slightly more together. This palm print pair is so perfect for summer but works great in those drafty dorm rooms as well. You'll be seeing a lot more of these soon as I am pretty much smitten with the brand they are from, Sant and Abel.

While tote bags may be something you think girls have a lot of (and to be honest we do), a great and sturdy tote bag that can be used for a variety of purposes is so useful both in college and after! I have a number of bags from Barrington Gifts and can attest to the quality of these bags. And fear not if you don't think gingham would be your graduates choice as the company has so many different styles and it is so fun to play around with the various options.

The only thing that seems more optimistic of traveling than a plane ticket is a suitcase. A suitcase of my own is one thing that I don't own that I should definitely add to my wishlist at some point. While at home it's not a big deal that I don't have my own suitcase since we have plenty of options in our attic but now as I will be on my own I am sure there will be a time when it is inconvenient that I don't have my own. I love the classic style of the monogrammed suitcase I featured above and would definitely feel ready for travel with the set.

I received this as a gift this year for graduation and it was the one item to wear daily that I didn't realize I was missing until I received it. I love the style of this watch and the versatility of being able to change the strap is a great option.

I received this camera for Christmas and LOVE it. If you don't have a DSLR camera and want something higher quality than your phone this is a great compact option that takes amazing videos as well. I have really loved mine and it is really easy to use.

Now on to some more affordable graduation gifts that would also be great for high school or college graduates.

Some of my personal favorites of these more affordable gifts include:

Whether you want to take a piece of home with you to college or reminisce about your college town somewhere else in the real world I adore Evelyn Henson's city prints! I have the Greenville one hung proudly in my room. She has so many different ones to choose from and art is a great way to spruce up a new place! Another reason to get these is that Evelyn is a Furman grad!

While you may feel like everyone has these I love these hoops. The thickness make them a little bit more fun and they are a good way to dress up an outfit.

I have this ID case and have for the past couple of years. It is so nice to have my swipe card/ school ID in one place along with some cards, cash, and my car and room keys all in one place. This is super practical and like the tote bag earlier can be customized in a number of ways!

Those are just a few of the various gifts that would be great for graduates. I'd love to hear your ideas as well as what the best graduation gift you received was!

  1. Thank you for including cheaper gifts - to be honest, I could't even tell the difference between those and the more expensive ones, they're both really nice sets of items!

  2. You can never go wrong with a great piece of luggage and I love that Longchamp overnight bag! I helped Evelyn design the Grand Rapids, MI print and now I want to buy all of them! I agree that they'd be the perfect graduation gift :)

  3. I love these ideas. The city map is adorable. I need to get an Atlanta version. The pennant is my favorite. I love pennants.

  4. These are all really great ideas, the luggage especially! I received a weekend bag as a high school graduation gift and I've gotten so much use out of it.
