Step Into My Week

Week Two officially gets a check mark by it! At the beginning of the school year I feel like everyone is hosting events so my social calendar definitely is more exciting as I am seeing friends for the first time and going different places.

On Fridays I finish class at 1:20 and then walk over a mile (!!!) back to my apartment. This past Friday I went for a run after class and then my big, Caroline, and I decided to go on a Friday afternoon adventure. We loved doing these last year and I am sure this year will be no different. For this "adventure" we went to a really cute gardening shop that had the cutest succulents and flowers. It definitely had me wanting to fill my room with living plants but for now I decided to restrain until I figure out what spaces still need to be filled.

We grabbed dinner to go at a deli downtown and then ate and got ready for the evening. That night the student activities board put on an event that they always do to kick off the semester, their Low Country Boil. I didn't end up eating there but the line alone showed how good the food must have been. It was at one of my favorite places downtown (where we had our bid day when I became a Kappa Delta) and the night is filled with running into friends, dancing, and catching up. I love events like this since EVERYONE is welcome to come and it is fun to see people out in a place other than the library. Below is a picture of my KD family (Caroline, Martha Ann, and I) at the event.

Saturday was spent running errands with my roommates as we still try to get everything situated how we want it in our apartment. My bedroom just has a few final pieces left to complete and I am dying to share the finished product with y'all!

Saturday night was another back to school event at the Drive stadium downtown (so cool). The Drive is Greenville's baseball team and while I haven't been to a game yet it is definitely on my to-do list since everyone says they are really fun. We hung out with friends before hand and stayed there for about an hour and by the time we got back to campus we were all more than ready to get into bed!

Sunday morning I got up and went to church (with the girls pictured above) and then spent the rest of the day doing little tasks like laundry and putting away dishes as well as lots and lots of reading. I am currently wishing that teachers wouldn't assign so many chapters but with a long weekend ahead of me hopefully I can tackle all the assignments and potentially get ahead!

With all that homework I can't tell you how desperately that I wish I  were spending all of that time blogging. I understand that school work comes with the territory but I feel so behind with emails and posts and hope to better even out the balance of blogging, school work, and social life as my routine starts to settle.

During my night class on Monday we went through our lecture and then completed some first week activities that would be ideal to integrate into our future classrooms. My friends and I joked that it is things like this that make people hate education majors. Also, it was a bit alarming to see kindergarten spelled wrong on the prop but it turns out the classroom theme was garden so we can all rest assured and just appreciate the pun!

Aside from those happenings I have been juggling class time with how much time I spend working on things at my desk in my room. I can't complain too much since I can actually focus in my apartment unlike in my dorm room on my sorority hall!

Lastly, I have been going on a bunch of runs around the lake and have discovered that I really love running right around sunset (thank you night class). It is so pretty then and definitely not as hot which is always a welcome change! I pass the bellower on my walk back to my apartment each day and I can't tell you how many times I consider stopping and taking a picture so here is one from my snap chat (@prepstepsnaps) for your enjoyment!

I hope y'all have had a great week and are looking forward to a long and relaxing labor day weekend!
