Great Books for a New Year

This past semester I haven't had that much time to read for pleasure. I never realized how much I missed it until I downloaded some books to have while at home for break! Although I love the feel of real books, lately I have found connivence in using the kindle app on my iPad!

Below are some of the books I have downloaded and have been reading over the break that I have been recommended by friends and am now recommending to all of y'all!

Great Books for a New Year

1. Gone Girl or any of Gillian Flynn's mystery novels
I read Gone Girl this past summer and couldn't put it down. Parts of it are kind of crude but if you ignore that and instead just follow the story line then it is a really entertaining book! Right now I am reading her book, Sharp Objects, and it is another easy read for anyone who loves a mystery. If you aren't a fan of murder mysteries then these may not be the books for you but if you do enjoy novels of this sort then you will most likely enjoy her books!

2. Dash and Lily's Book of Dares
This was recommended to me by a friend at school and was such a cute quick and easy read! It is set at Christmas time in New York City (talk about perfection) and is written for young adults! It is kind of a romance but is super well written and entertaining!

3. The Book Thief
This is next on my list! I have heard so many awesome things about this book and can not wait to start it. I hear that the movie isn't quite as good as the book but that is to be expected. Regardless, I am excited!

4. Where'd You Go Bernadette
My aunt recommended this to me and this is another one I am hoping to read before heading back to school!

5. Divergent
I began listening to this on my drive home from Furman and am looking forward to listening to more of it soon! If you like the Hunger Games you will probably like this one! I was a bit skeptical at first but am excited to get through this series! PS, Divergent was made into a movie  that will be in theaters in March!

6. The Fault in Our Stars
I have heard that this book is really inspiring and is another that I am hoping to get through this before heading back to school!

What books have you been loving?

  1. I just finished Divergent (and I'm already half way through the second book in the series). They're such fast and easy reads...but so good! I can't wait to see how they make it into a movie, although I usually prefer the book in the long run :)
