My Dorm Room

I am so excited to be all settled in at college! I am a freshman at Furman University and am so happy with everything about my school! One thing that I was most looking forward to about college was decorating my dorm room. I am so happy with the way it all came together and it has really started to feel like home. Our dorm room is incredibly generous in size which makes everything look better.

My roommate and I met once before coming to school and I absolutely love her. We are super similar but not in a way that makes us butt heads and we have become such great friends. We each did our own thing when it came to bedding however our colors coordinated very well because of our joint love of Lilly.

Without further adieu, here is my dorm room!

The closet isn't very wide but it is pretty deep which allows me to keep my laundry hamper in it as well! Both my roommate and I hung shower curtains so that our closets could double as a place to change and have a bit of privacy. The shower curtains remain closed and don't overwhelm guests when they walk in the door (since the closets are in that walk way).

Here is the view when you walk in the door. When walking through the door all you see is my side so I wanted to make sure to give everyone a good first impression. To give you an idea of layout, my closet is to the right.

My bedding and color scheme was all based around my Lilly Pulitzer headboard (see DIY here). I attempted to distract from the cinder blocked walls I added unique wall details in bright colors including some curtains that my mom made out of a king size sheet set.

I have a memo board in the same fabric as my headboard and my mom made my room mate and I fun chair covers that match our curtains to make it a little more inviting to study (why are dorm issued furniture so drab). My desk doubles as a vanity so I made sure to have a very functional set up. The little mushroom-esque pink lamp is from an antique sale and the painted monogram canvas was a summer project I attempted.

The storage ottomans (DIY recovered storage ottoman post here) act as seating, storage, and a way for me to get onto my bed! For a bedside table I got 2 cubby sets from target with pink bins which keep things looking pretty organized. I am still looking for a lamp to put on the cubbies closest to my bed and we are also hoping to get a rug for our room but my roommate and I are very indecisive! The second cubby set stores my school books and supplies and we used it as a printer stand as well! By keeping trinkets and necessities in bins the room looks all around more organized and orderly.

Here is a better look at the bed area. One of my favorite parts of my day is getting under the covers and I can't get over how comfortable my bed is! Since my bed sits in a nook I included 4 photos right next to my bed of my family and I.

I LOVE pillows. When people walk in they seem to laugh at the number of pillows I have but I think it makes my bed look inviting. I often get asked if I use all of these pillows when sleeping and embarrassingly enough, yes I do.

My mom made me a dust ruffle which is the perfect way to hide my under the bed storage and dresser! With the bed being up so high is was quite necessary to utilize the under the bed storage space so that our room would look less cluttered and having that hidden is

Here is a look at my room mates bed. She has a Lilly duvet and has a headboard as well! She also has a set of cubbies to use as a nightstand which fits perfectly squeezed in next to our sink.

We lucked out having a sink in our room. You would never think about how incredibly handy this is whether I am washing my face or a dish. In this photo, you can also see her desk! She has the same chair cover I do (that my mom made) and loads of photos displayed above her workspace.

I LOVE the bright colors and fun patterns in our room and it makes me so happy to come back to my dorm! By using predominantly white bed spreads we were able to incorporate our own personalities in which just happened to be a mutual love of bright colors and quirky, fun accents.

What do y'all think?

  7. It always used to feel more pleasure writing under such opinions and ideas because we almost get more aware and able to write with ease, hopefully this would also bring some good instances for the future as well.
