Step Into My Week

Hello friends. I missed y’all after taking a couple day unexpectedly off last week. I am always bummed when I don’t have blog posts live since I feel like I miss the opportunity to connect with you. My blog is such an enjoyable outlet for me that it’s a bummer to have to put it on the back burner. With blog posts on the back-burner Instagram posts also went to the back burner. I am happy to report that this past weekend I did a much better job of planning ahead in order to give myself more opportunities to connect with y’all this week. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for 5 new blog posts (finally) this week and lots of instagrams.

With the overwhelm that I felt last week it seemed as though I was constantly playing catch up. It’s a bummer to begin the week feeling behind and come class Monday night with more assignments thrown at us I was sinking. Fortunately, I powered through and had those things complete by this Saturday so I was able to take some time to relax and avoid this feeling to kick off another work week. Last week really seemed to drag on, and it felt like the longest week we’ve had in a while. I had class on Tuesday night as well and my usual meetings on Wednesday, so Thursday was the first normal afternoon in a while. I’m hoping that my class is on the verge of a behavior breakthrough since that remained a challenge in the classroom again this week.

Right now I’m doing my best to avoid getting sick. I've had kids in and out of the classroom with the flu and other ailments so Dayquil and Lysol have quickly become my best friends. I am also using this as an excuse to get a little extra sleep at night!

Aside from the work week I was so thankful once 3:00 on Friday afternoon hit. Despite being exhausted, I was able to get some blog photos done with my roommate before we ordered pizza (happy belated National Pizza Day) and grabbed ice cream to feel more tied to the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympics. After our delicious dinner, being the party animals we are, we both fell asleep on the couch around 9:00.

I woke up on Saturday morning (after eventually moving to my bed) and realized that I had gotten eleven hours of sleep. Ellison and I went to the brunch hosted by our apartment complex before working some in the morning. I went to lunch at Willy Taco with a friend before heading to Starbucks to knock out more work. I tried to get really ahead this past weekend so that this weekend I could enjoy a bit of a break since I’m heading out of town on Wednesday. In the afternoon, I came back to the apartment and Ellison and I got caught up again with how to Get Away With Murder. After eating leftovers and watching the two episodes we had missed we watched Home Again. The rainy weather had us avoiding leaving the apartment so we went to bed early again that night.

Sunday I woke up to even heavier rain. I decided it was the perfect excuse to drink coffee and work in bed. I was able to go to Target and get things for our class Valentine’s Day party when the rain let up a bit. Around 1:30 Sophia and I met at Caviar and Bananas because misery loves company and doing work together makes everything so much better. I talked to my parents on the drive back to my apartment and eventually showered and made dinner before posting up on the couch with my laptop to watch the Olympics and finish things up. I folded laundry before getting in bed to read before calling it a day.

Watching: Home Again
On Saturday night, Ellison and I decided to watch Reese Witherspoon’s newest movie. We had heard mixes reviews about it, but we both really enjoyed it. It’s definitely not some huge award winner but was enjoyable.

Loving: Go Ginza
If I could only wear one nail polish shade for the rest of my life it would be Essie’s Fiji. Fortunately, that’s not the case and I have the ability to mix things up. Between my typical pink I’ve been wearing Essie’s go Ginza. It’s a pastel purple that is probably better suited for spring but I’m happily wearing it now.

Wearing: Rain Boots
It has rained the past two weekends here so my short Hunter rain boots have been my go-to. If it’s going to be cold and rain I’d much rather it snow. I’m ready for some better weather soon.

Ever since seeing this pair on Tuckernuck’s site I’ve been convincing myself that I need a pair. While this option is much brighter than I’d typically choose when picking a shoe, I can’t help but love it. Imagine how much fun it would be to put them on in the morning. If you’re looking for a subtler pair with a lower price tag I also really like these!
