Step Into My Week

We've made it to another Monday and not just any Monday but Monday October the 9th. Which means...it's my brother's birthday! Happy 24th to him (although he probably won't see this for a few weeks judging by his typical PIYS scroll throughs). I hope that some of y'all have today off for Columbus Day although that is not the case for me. It's back to another week of work and I have a feeling that this one is going to be increasingly busy with parent-teacher conferences and the end of the first quarter of school quickly approaching. Fortunately I have a fun adventure scheduled for next weekend that will give me a good light at the end of the tunnel.

The individual days of the week were pretty long but this week felt short overall. I had meetings every afternoon until Wednesday which did not help the fact that I came down with something on Monday. I survived on NyQuil and DayQuil and am glad that I've moved past whatever it was. That hopefully explains why I ended the week without any blog posts. Hopefully I'll be able to stay on top of them this week though! I've come to realize that I need to do a much better job at taking photos throughout the week so that you're not stuck solely with outfit photos for teaching!

We had a casual day with our school t-shirt, jeans, and tennis shoes for International Walk to School Day and it was much appreciated since I didn't feel great.

This weekend was a bit more active than most which was refreshing but also leaves me feeling a bit less prepared for one of my busier weeks. Hopefully I can prove to myself that I can keep up with everything I need to do even if I don't touch my computer until Sunday but I am thinking that may not be the case. Regardless, Friday night was spent going to dinner downtown with my roommate Ellison, her sister, and her sister's friend! We tried to convince them that playing Scattergories was super fun but all called it a night pretty early on. Saturday morning I forced myself into switching my closet from spring/summer to fall/winter and it was quite the chore, but now that it is done it seems worth it. I am so ready for Thanksgiving break though so that I can stop storing my out of season clothes under my bed and instead hang them in my closet at home! I rewarded myself after that with lunch with a couple of friends at a nearby pizza place before coming back in the afternoon to do things around the apartment. A big group ended up gathering at a friends apartment before going downtown to watch the football games. Once those were over we went to a bar filled with pool, ping pong, and air hockey tables which was a fun discovery prior to grabbing a bite to eat at a late night diner before heading home.

Yesterday was spent preparing for the week ahead and finalizing details for parent conferences. While I know that the next few weeks will be busy with fun things I definitely need to work back into my routine of having everything together and ready on Sundays. As much as it makes Sunday feel like a week day it is usually worth it throughout the week. I do enjoy taking a bit of time on Sunday to talk to my family and catch up with farther away friends. It's always nice to escape from what you're doing in that regard. Another fun thing we have started to do on Sundays to make sitting around doing work a bit more fun is watching documentaries. We alternate which roommate's turn it is to pick and are able to crank out some work while watching them!

I hope that y'all had a good week and an even better weekend! If you have any tips for how to make Sundays more fun definitely let me know as we could use that advice!
