A New Take On The Classic Button Down

Lately, as I've been getting dressed in the morning I've been doing my best to look a combination of cute, professional, and weather appropriate. It's almost like that triangle that you see in college where each of the points says social life, sleep, and good grades and you're only able to pick two. While looking professional and dressing weather appropriate for work is important I would rather not look frumpy on my way to school. It has helped now that my closet is full of my fall clothes when it comes to mixing up the pieces I have but every fall I tend to resort to one staple, plaid button downs.

Plaid shirts are so easy to throw on with a pair of dark wash jeans or chino pants and can be accessorized in so many different ways with a simple white sweater when it gets especially chilly and a vest on days where it's a bit warmer. While I certainly have plenty of plead button downs in my closet, when I came across a fun plaid shirt in a new and more trendy silhouette I knew I had to give it a try. I've seen a number of cross front tops during the previous seasons and loved the new look the style gave to a more classic piece. I find myself reaching for it for school and even on warmer weekends with jean shorts. The contrasting plaid and relaxed fit makes it eye catching without sacrificing comfort and I find that this top is one of those pieces that can successfully hit all three points on my new and improved work wear triangle.

On the weekends I have found that pairing this top with my favorite jeans and booties makes the easiest outfit that is versatile enough to wear all day. The quick addition of some accessories and a hair tie to keep my hair out of my face while running errands has served as the perfect errand running ensemble.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that this top continues to come in different prints since I have already worn this red plaid one so frequently that it is just about time to mix it up!
