Step Into My Week

It’s been a week since I’ve been back in Greenville in and it feels a bit longer with everything that has been going on. This week I am working hard to start getting into a routine since last week was so sporadic. This will be my first full week of grad school (yikes) so I’m expecting to be a bit tired at the end of next week but am hoping to make the most of being in Greenville this summer. Working out is at the top of my to-do list so I’ll let you know how that goes.

Monday was spent building ikea furniture, yikes, and getting my hair done! If you didn’t see my post from Friday you may not have seen that I got a blowout and learned how to do beach inspired waves with Alterna Haircare at Wilson’s on Washington. I had so much fun and it was fun to catch up with Sophia (my roommate the past 2 years who is still in Greenville too) over lunch and while working on my furniture. I had dinner with my friend Chandler (she rocks and cooked us both dinner) and then we walked around downtown and ended up getting ice cream.

Tuesday was more errands with my roommate Ellison and organizing of the apartment. The apartment is far from complete but I’ll try to share an update with y’all soon. Chandler, Ellison, and I had dinner together Tuesday and then Wednesday did some more unpacking before having orientation (it was actually more like class) Wednesday night. With a couple of hours worth of homework that night it kind of felt like summer was ending. I’ve never done school in the summer so this will definitely be a learning experience for me when it comes to productivity and balancing blogging, a social life, and school but I’m hoping to make the most of it.

Thursday was our first full day of class but fortunately we had a field trip that morning which was much better than the three hours spent in the classroom that afternoon. Ellison went out of town for a wedding after class and I struggled to get my mattress on my new bed frame. I am glad I am finally done sleeping on the floor and that all of my off season clothes can hide under the bed (thank goodness for bed skirts). I made a really delicious dinner and am all about quick meals with ingredients I have on hand currently since this is good practice for when I get home from teaching exhausted. Bowls are my go to and this one has ground turkey with taco seasoning, brown rice, peppers, avocado, salsa, and the next day I added black beans and cheese!

Friday we spent 9:00-4:00 in the classroom (aside from a lunch break) so we were all pretty excited when class was dismissed. I didn’t really do much Friday night as my friends were out of town so I took advantage of watching Netflix while attempting to situate my room. Saturday I slept in and did blog work in bed (talk about a dream) before getting dressed to do my grocery shopping for the week. Sophia and I went to her pool that afternoon/night and it was so fun getting to see her apartment as well. Yesterday was spent getting my life in order. I woke up, went back to Barre 3 for the first time in what felt like forever, grabbed coffee, and then hit the pool for a while to do my readings for class for the coming week. Ellison got back from being out of town, I talked to my parents, and then my friends and I had our inaugural Sunday dinner to combat the Sunday Scaries. I am so excited to be so close to my friends as we begin this phase of life and am glad that we will all have Sunday as a day to look forward to instead of dread!

Also, if you want to see the vlog I mentioned doing last week here is one of them! The other one will be up soon so be sure to subscribe to my channel on youtube to be the first to be notified!

I hope y’all had a great week and that your Monday isn’t too overwhelming.

  2. It must be weird to be in school full time right now even though as a teacher you'll have summers off.

  6. I just watched your blog. Please do some recipe posts. I also agree with your mom about getting a chest of drawers for your kitchen space. I'll need one for my first apartment if I keep collecting kitchen supplies.

  8. I weirdly am obsessed with putting together Ikea furniture, it's relaxing to me for some reason :) I love that you perfectly lined up all the screws and bolts.
