Ways To Make Your Morning More Exciting

With this being my last week of class before full time student teaching (eep) and the 5:30 alarm that goes along with that (double eep) I have no choice but to at least attempt to be a morning person. The only problem with this is that I love productivity a little too much and haven't learned to fully balance the fact that getting up early in the morning to be productive means I should probably move my bed time up a bit earlier as well. I'll work on that...

Ask my parents and they surely wouldn't agree but at school I have learned to become quite the morning person. While I may not have necessarily been born with that gene I don't think I was completely lacking it either. Over time I've somehow tricked myself into thinking that waking up early is great and have come to realize mornings are the time when I am able to be most productive. This mindset has caused waking to an alarm at 7:30 to feel a bit like sleeping in on weekdays and while that may not always be the healthiest mindset I've learned to value waking up earlier and giving myself enough time to not feel rushed in the morning. By avoiding the rush that mornings sometimes bring mornings are a lot more enjoyable and that's even truer when I get excited for something in the morning. Let me tell you, excitement can be an internal alarm clock! 

I decided to compile a list of some of my favorite ways to make my mornings a bit more excited with hopes that this helps you out but also that you'll share some new ideas with me!

Set Your Alarm Earlier

Find Something Motivational


Wash Your Face

Listen to Music


COFFEE


Create A To-Do List & Accomplish A Task


Workout


Walk To Class With A Friend


Ignore Your Phone For 30 Minutes



And if you become overly ambitious and set your alarm clock 3 hours earlier than you need to so that you can do a little bit of all of these things I am pretty sure you'll crash onto your bed midday and never want to get up! I so hope that some of these ideas will make you slightly less likely to press snooze and get your day going!

P.S. If anyone has any advice for how to force yourself to go to bed earlier I am all ears and need all the help I can get!

First off - enjoy student teaching, it's the best :) I work in schools and thus feel your anxiety - honestly I am not a morning person and my one trick is telling myself when my alarm goes off if I don't actually get up my hair will look terrible! Silly but effective [especially when you have students in a school who notice EVERYTHING!]

  5. Love the tips! As for forcing yourself to go to bed earlier, something that I have found to work for me is to plan to be in bed by a certain time early in the day. All day you will have in your head, I need to be in bed by, say, 10:30. As the day goes on and I get more tired from class or schoolwork or whatever is going on, I look more forward to that 10:30 lights out and it motivates me to get everything done by then. Your to-do lists always look a bit more packed than mine so maybe you'll have to work your way down to 10:30, but I hope this helps!
