Having two weeks of student teaching under my belt has taught me a lot of things. I've learned a lot about my students, my school, behavior management, packing lunches, and even getting dressed for the "real world" each day. Some of these tasks may be a bit more fun than others...
The novelty of making a lunch each day to take to school is starting to wear off and standing in front of my closet at night deciding what I want to put on isn't as fun since I've exhausted some of my favorite dresses. I am refusing to rely on cardigans and capris as a teacher uniform (for now at least) and have lived in comfortable dresses that fit the dress code. After a couple of minor adjustments (these pictures are pre those adjustments) this dress completely fits this bill while also being something I'd gladly throw on for class, a dinner, or just about anything. And, it's from my favorite place to shop as of late, H & M. I'm sure you saw this post and this post highlighting a couple of other pieces I snagged this summer from there but H & M has quickly begun to set up shop in my closet and I am not complaining! Their pieces are affordable and so cute my only qualm would be that their stuff typically runs small but once you realize that and know to order a size or two up you're golden.
As if y'all weren't already aware of my love of blue and white I'm sure it comes with no questions as to why I adore this dress. The embroidered detail, pin stripes, and modest length make it the perfect piece to toss on and head out the door. To make this a little more professional I sewed the side slits so they weren't quite as revealing and made this piece more of a dress and less of a tunic although it is adorable as either. The addition of some cognac accessories (including my go to tote) keeps this outfit youthful and seasonally appropriate. Finding shoes to wear to school isn't a challenge until you realize just how much you stand on your feet all day as a teacher and I am happy to report these are a comfortable and cute option to wear before the temperatures start dropping. Even if you're not teaching, this dress would probably fit a number of dress codes or be perfect to have on hand for any weekend events you may have!
I'd love to know if y'all would be interested in seeing more looks at what I wear to go to the school each week since that could be a fun addition to the blog! Happy Monday!
