Where I've Been & Kappa Delta Quesadillas

I feel like ever since getting back to school I've been running at 90 to nothing with no signs of stopping soon! In some ways it is great to get back into things full force but I also feel like I am nearing a point when exhaustion may take over (hurry up weekend). Routines are something I thrive on so it has been really tricky to feel like I don't have one but that is to be expected at the start of a new school year. I've felt like I haven't seen so many people on campus and I've even felt like I haven't been around here (the blog) that much when in reality I've only missed one post. This is especially tricky since this summer I was able to devote all of my leftover energy and effort post babysitting to blogging. That has made it so much harder when I feel like I don't have time to post since I love devoting time to all things blogging. While you may be seeing posts on here the behind the scenes stuff is about as hectic as ever. So many unanswered emails (do as I say, not as I do), projects to be worked on, and exciting content to bring y'alls way that has felt pushed to the back burner.

Fortunately, one of my major distractions just occurred so I'll be able to focus more time and energy back to the blog. This "distraction" of sorts was my sororities (Kappa Delta) philanthropy event for the semester. As some of you may know I serve on the executive council as Vice President of Public Relations for my sorority which means all of the advertising and publicizing for our events falls onto my plate. Thank goodness for an amazing VP of Community Service, I'd like to think we were quite the dynamic duo with this event, who was encouraging and enthusiastic throughout all of our efforts!

Having a big philanthropy event so early in the school year meant that I had to do EVERYTHING in my effort to make sure people attended and I am thrilled to say we had over 480 people turn out for an event that usually yields about 300 attendees. This year we decided to do something new and our VP-CS came up with KD Quesadillas. The event was held this past Tuesday and attendees purchased a ticket for $5 and were served chipotle quesadillas, chips and salsa, guacamole, and baked treats in a room on campus that quickly transformed to the most colorful and fun fiesta setting we could have imagined!

While technically these photos should be included in my Step Into the Week this week there were just too many so I felt it was deserving of its own post! As much fun as it was I am so relieved that it was a success and that people on campus will stop associating my name with so much KDQ advertising. Regardless, all of the effort was so worth it and I am so thrilled to be a part of a sorority that values raising money for wonderful causes within our own community!

A speaker from our local philanthropy, The Julie Valentine Center, came and spoke to attendees about their efforts in our community to give everyone a better idea of what the money we raised will benefit!

I even made my favorite iced sugar cookie for the event!

How cute are these girls who came out to support the event!?

I can officially transition my mind from all things KD Quesadilla and onto the next endeavor, International Women's Friendship month here I come!
