During the summer I am especially appreciative of my near proximity to the water. While pools can be found all over I love having the ability to go to the beach or the bay with little concern as to how long it may take to get there. I spent last weekend at the beach and I have spent multiple days this week by the pool allowing myself plenty of Vitamin D and time in the water. Being from Alabama I'd like to think I am used to the heat but both my skin and body need a bit of extra hydration in the summer time!
While I have ideas for how to hydrate both I am going to start with your skin. I'm not going to sugar coat it much but in the summer heat you are a lot more likely to sweat meaning that you probably want your skin care routine to be as far from high maintenance as possible. Whether that means a quick makeup routine, a long wear deodorant, or a moisturizing spray lotion that leaves your skin energized and refreshed that choice is up to you. Personally, I am choosing all of the above with the lotion being my newest favorite in my bag of tricks for summer hydration. I've sworn by St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Face Scrub for years and upon discovering St. Ives new spray lotion I just knew I had to give them a try! For one, I HATE applying lotion in the summer because it makes me feel sticky and I know that it will more than likely be washed off in the water or sweated off in the summer heat. This new spray style lotion will surely be my new best friend from here on out since I don't even have to use my hands to apply it. It sprays on lightly, is quickly absorbed (a must in my book), smells amazing, and naturally hydrates my skin leaving it smooth and glowing. I was so entranced by this concept that I had to try both the St. Ives Smooth & Glow Apricot Spray Lotion and the Naturally Indulgent Coconut Milk and Orchid Extract Fresh Hydration Lotion.
Verdict? I love them both and am already foreseeing these becoming year long necessities. I guess this time me being picky about lotion has paid off and allowed me to venture to try a product that has quickly become a favorite! And how could I rave about these without mentioning their scents, heavenly! I also adore that they are natural and formulated specifically to replenish moisture in your skin, something I desperately need in the summer.

So now that I've raved about skin hydration how about fluid intake for your body? Forcing yourself to drink cup after cup of water can become a bit of a bore when you crave something flavored but know that good all natural H2O is what your body needs. The solution? Fruit infused water and ice cubes! This is the perfect way to encourage yourself to stay hydrated while indulging in something a bit tastier than plain water. For even more encouragement snag a super cute water bottle that makes you want to hydrate all day long.
What's even better than the taste is how simple it is to spruce up your water. Honestly just as simple as throwing in some of your favorite fruit and pouring water into the same glass. The same goes for the ice which is great to keep your water cool and help to ensure that the flavor keeps flowing even when the ice melts (because what's worse than watered down water? kidding).
Now that you're sufficiently hydrated internally and externally grab your beach / pool bag and take on the summer heat fully prepared to #liveradiantly this summer!
