What I am Wearing: Plaid Shirt and Duck Boots

Towards the beginning of my winter break we stayed and played at my grandparents house, the farm! With tons of fun activities to do there, one must dress properly! Here is my outfit of choice when I was there.

Plaid and Duck Boots

I hope you all enjoy your New Years Eve and are safe and responsible tonight! I can't wait to see each of you in the New Year!

What I Received For Christmas

Sadly Christmas has come and gone and I am in denial about how quickly the holidays passed by! Yesterday I showed you the wonderful gifts that I was fortunate enough to receive for my birthday and today I am going to show you what I received for Christmas! I got to spend Christmas with my family and I am truly thankful for that time spent together as well as the gifts I received.

Below is the bulk of what filled my stocking!
Tissues, Cupcake Holders, Car Freshener, Wisps, Key Knife, Pantene Damage Repair Sample, Binder Clips, Peppermint Bark, Pocket Knife, Flashlight, and a Lighter that looks like a Match.

This year I received a good deal of stationary! I absolutely love stationary and hand written letters so this gift was perfect for me! In true southern fashion, these gifts are already being used for me to write thank you notes for the gifts I received.
Target Stationary, Hand Drawn Cards, and Monogrammed Stationary.

My big present from my parents this year was an iPad. I am so excited to start using it and am loving it thus far! It is the one with 3G capabilities and is full sized (not the mini). I also received this precious monogrammed case to protect it!

My friend purchased adorable monogrammed earrings for me from Eliza Jay Charms on etsy and she also gave me a monogrammed sweatshirt. It is safe to say that she knows me well!

My grandparents got me a large navy Longchamp bag and I love the size! I was hoping for something large and I own 2 medium Longchamps and the large is exactly what I imagined! My brother got me a Michael Kors watch for Christmas and sadly it was at the jewelry store being sized when I took the picture. It is the "Horn" watch and I love the way it looks!

Another terrific present from my parents was this red Anthropologie dress! We have a winter formal coming up on January 12th so I chose this number and added it to my list! My mom and I were oohing and ahhing over how well this dress was made! Anthropologie consistently has great quality items but the quality of this dress was taken to the next level!

And the back is oh so cute with its small cutout!

And what would Christmas be without a couple of new ornaments? I got a fun white ball with red sparkle swirls and a cute mercury glass owl that adds fun shimmer to my tree!

Along with those awesome gifts I received money and gift cards for both Christmas and my Birthday but I am planning on saving them for a while since I have plenty of new goodies to enjoy for the time being!

I hope y'all had a wonderful holiday season!

What I Received For My Birthday!

I am excited to share with y'all what I received for my birthday and tomorrow I will share what I received for Christmas! I love reading these posts and I hope you do too! I had a fantastic birthday that I shared with my family and friends and I am thankful for the gifts I received and more importantly, I am thankful for the time that I spent with my family and friends!

And in true Southern Fashion, my thank you notes are already being written!

Below are some of the thoughtful gifts my friends brought to my cookie party!
Vineyard Vines T-Shirt, Bracelet, Initial Tervis Tumbler, Calendar, Earrings, and Lilly Pulitzer Cookie Cutters!

The gifts below are from my grandparents! The main gift I got from them was a Rowallan Jewelry Case. I have a small, hard travel case but it doesn't have separators so the jewelry tends to get tangled. Now, I will no longer have tangled jewelry and have a cute storage box to protect my jewelry!
Jewelry Box, Post Its (3 different varieties), Stationary, Chapstick, Storage Containers, Bath Cupcake, and my favorite type of nuts!

Next we have the gifts I received from two of my aunts!
Tory Burch for Target Lunch Box, Vera Bradley Stationary, Cupcake Note Pad, Bussiness Card Holder, Citrus Ginger Arbonne Body Wash and Sugar Scrub.

Inside the lunchbox were some Lilly animal crackers, EOS lip balm, a headband, stationary, and some makeup!

All of the gifts I received from my parents were surprises! It is rare for me to receive surprise gifts as I grow older because I tend to ask for more expensive items. I love that most of the gifts from my parents had a baking theme and I couldn't be more excited to use these gifts!
4 Cupcake Plates, Cupcake Liners, Ralph Lauren Raspberry Cable Knit Sweater, and the sweetest distowels and apron that my mother sewed a cupcake on to! I love that my mom took the time to personalize these everyday items and I can not wait to use and display these thoughtful gifts!

Also from my parents, I received a snap ware container. This container is the most brilliant thing ever! It has two detachable compartments that are lined with a revisable cupcake/cookie tray. This is going to be the perfect way to transport cookies and cupcakes since those are the two baked goods I make most often.

Lastly, from the same Aunt who gave me the body wash, cupcake notepad, and the business card holder, I received a large wooden wall monogram! I am soooo excited about this gift because I know it will look so cute in my dorm room next year! I love that I am able to paint it any color I want and I can not wait to hang it up!

I hope y'all enjoyed seeing what I received and if you did then be sure to check back tomorrow to see what I got for Christmas!

3rd Annual Cookie Decorating Party

On December 21st I had my third annual cookie decorating party! We had so much fun eating sweet treats, decorating cookies, and singing along with the Christmas music on the radio! I am so excited that this has become a tradition and I am excited to share the pictures with y'all!

Here are a few photos from parties past:

Sadly in 2010 we didn't get a group photo but I do have this gem from that party!

Fortunately in 2011 we were able to get a group photo!

And here are the photos we took this year!

Oddly enough we didn't take any pictures of the cookies I worked so hard to bake but if you follow me on instagram @prepinyourstep you will have seen some undecorated cookies!

Christmas Eve Traditions

The fact that it is Christmas Eve is mind boggling! The year is almost over and flew bye! I vividly remember last Christmas Eve and Christmas and there is no way that was a year ago!

We tend to do about the same thing every Christmas Eve and there are no complaints from me about it!
We are always at the Farm, my grandparents house, for Christmas break!

Here is our schedule:

Regular day of fun up until the afternoon!
Oftentimes I go over to my aunts house and help her cook since we all go to her house for Christmas Eve dinner!
We will probably go over to their house around 5:30 all dressed up for a festive Christmas Eve.
We eat and are merry and celebrate together!
We play ping pong, eat some more, and usually exchange a joke gift or too!
Then we head back to the farm and here comes my favorite part!
I change into my pajamas and put baby jesus in the manger!
Then I organize all of the Christmas presents, each person gets a pile and then I go around and set up the presents so they appear appealing!

Here are some of my favorite images containing Christmas Presents:

And of course I love the way my presents turned out with their monogrammed gift tags (DIY)!

What is your families Christmas Eve Tradition?

Popsugar December Box

I am so excited to share with y'all what I received in my December Pop Sugar box! I got it a little over a week ago and didn't want to spoil the contents for anyone who had yet to receive theirs. I am very glad I subscribed and can not wait to see what other goodies will arrive in the months to come! I have a post all about the pop sugar must have box here but basically it is a monthly subscription service that costs $35 a month and its contents will have a value of over $100. Unlike some monthly subscription boxes, this box is a lifestyle box containing products for various aspects of your life!

So without further adieu here are the contents of the December Popsugar Must Have box!

This is what the package looks like coming straight out of the mail box!

Here is what I saw when I opened up the pretty pink tissue paper! And at this point I had already taken out the fancy bar of soap they included and put it in my shower so it is not included in pictures.

The first thing I saw were these super cool double wall thermo-glass mugs! How cute would these look with a vinyl monogram decal, yes please! I drink lots of coffee and hot chocolate so these were right up my ally! I immediately went and put these with the stack of other items that will head with me to college next year!

After I took the mugs out this was my view! Lots of goodies to explore and try!

This tea sampler from tea forte made the whole box smell wonderful! I am not a huge tea drinker but I have an aunt who is and this is wrapped under the tree with her name on it!

Y'all are lucky I got a picture of these bad boys. Holy cow, they are so yummy. I have had these before but it has been a while and they were just as goof as I remembered. Dark chocolate covered peppermint sticks are hard to beat! These are also super cute to be used as hot chocolate stirrers, do you spy a theme because I sure do!

Go Swype included an electronic screen cleaner. And we also received a coupon code for Rent the Runway. While I have never tried Rent The Runway, I think it is an awesome idea and was not complaining about the $35 voucher!

This last thing was my favorite thing in the box! This is a minimergency kit for her and contains anything and everything you could ever need from your purse! It comes in a precious little bag (mine was taupe, some people had purple) with a wish bone zipper. Anything and everything from nail polish, hair spray, earring backs, advil, deodorant, and lip balm, it is a well stocked little pouch!

Are you convinced enough to try?
If you do decide to try it out use the code REFER5 to get $5 off!

If I wasn't already subscribed I would have given this to myself as a christmas present that keeps giving! You can also sign up to give these as gifts, if you don't know what to get someone and don't want to give them a gift card then sign them up for PopSugar!

PS. It looks like if you sign up now you are eligible to receive the January box.

DIY Monogrammed Gift Tags

My inspiration for this idea came from my love of all things monogrammed and our dwindling supply of gift tags! This is also probably the easiest Do It Yourself ever!

To start head on over to maybooks.com and begging "designing" a notebook!

Next choose a monogram style, type in the letters (in the order you want them to appear), choose a shape (squares work best), and a color that matches your wrapping paper!

Once you have done that right click on the image and hit "copy image."

Now open up a word document and paste the image onto the new sheet.

After that crop your image so that all you can see is the square containing the monogram.

Resize the image to a size that will properly fit your present.

Print the sheet and cutout the monogram. Position it onto your present and adhere it with some tape and you are good to go! I recommend printing the monograms onto card stock so that they won't be so flimsy but regular copy paper works also!

Viola, you have just made yourself some monogrammed gift tags!

Cookie Party Preparations

Today is the day of my third annual cookie party and I am super excited to continue this tradition!
I love that it will be an excuse to bring all of my friends back together once we head our separate ways during college.

It does however, require lots of prep work!

So far I have made:

5 batches of sugar cookies
4 batches of royal icing
oreo truffles
bacon and swiss dip
mock champagne

Lots of cooking and baking involved!
We decided to decorate in our dining room and there are sprinkles galore! We have a large round table in there that should comfortably fit the 15 girls that will be celebrating the holiday season with me!

I will be back soon to show you loads of pictures from this fun event but until then enjoy these pictures from the past two years:

In 2010 we forgot to get a group picture, oops!

In 2011 we remembered!
